The impeachment circus has a beneficiary the Democrats never could’ve expected – President Donald Trump.
While both sides of the political spectrum have found their own heroes in the hearings, the GOP is seeing the biggest boost from those willing to put their money behind their convictions.
According to the Washington Examiner:
The RNC fundraising juggernaut, fueled by a GOP backlash to the House impeachment effort to force President Trump from office, scored another record in October and pushed the bank account past $61 million.
The debt-free RNC told Secrets exclusively that it brought in $25.3 million in October and has $61.4 million cash on hand.
For perspective, that is nearly triple what it raised in October 2017, the last nonelection October, and the money on hand is the most since 2012.
In all, over $400 million has been raised towards Trump’s reelection efforts, if the RNC’s fundraising and Trump 2020 campaign’s totals are combined (which is appropriate, since the two groups have unprecedentedly merged). The RNC has no debt on their books and the aforementioned $61.4 million in the bank, while the DNC has $7 million in debt and $8.7 million in cash on hand. Democrats run their party’s finances as well as the nations, it seems.
In addition to the physical cash, Trump is in the unique position of being able to generate billions of dollars in free publicity for himself.
We only have the numbers as of the end of October, but if the set-up to the impeachment hearings led to such a boost for Republicans, certainly the circus itself attracted even more donors.
