GOP Lawmakers Call For Gwen Berry To Lose Her Olympic Spot Over Anthem Protest

Gwen Berry recently made the news for her disgraceful protest of the National Anthem this weekend. After coming in third place in the U.S. Olympic track and field trials, Berry turned her back to the flag during the national anthem and held up a shirt that said “activist athlete.”

Berry went on to say, “I really don’t want to talk about the anthem because that’s not important. The anthem don’t speak for me. It never has.” Incidentally, this isn’t her first protest against America. Back in 2019, Berry raised her fist from the podium during the Star Spangled banner as a protest against Donald Trump and what she considers “injustice in America.”

To their credit, two GOP lawmakers that also happen to be veterans spoke up in favor of kicking Berry off of the Olympic team, which is so obviously the right thing to do that it really shouldn’t even need to be discussed. Shouldn’t the bare minimum requirement to represent America being someone who doesn’t have disdain for America?

On Fox News, Senator Tom Cotton said:

“I don’t think it’s too much, when athletes are competing to wear the Stars and Stripes — to compete under the Stars and Stripes in the Olympics — for them to simply honor that flag and our anthem on the medal stand. If Ms. Berry is so embarrassed by America, then there’s no reason she needs to compete for our country. She should be removed from the Olympic team.”

Also on Fox News, House member Dan Crenshaw said:

“We don’t need any more ‘activist athletes.’ She should be removed from the team. You know, the entire point of the Olympic team is to represent the United States of America. That’s the entire point, okay? It’s one thing when these NBA players do it. OK, fine, we’ll just stop watching. But now, the Olympic team – and it’s multiple cases of this. They should be removed. That should be the bare minimum requirement, is that you believe in the country you’re representing.”

Both of them are right, but you know what you can’t help but think after seeing weird, unhappy lipstick lady complaining about how bad she has it here?

There can’t be any other country in the world where so many wildly successful people are constantly whining that they’re being held back.

Here’s a woman about to go the Olympics who talks about how awful it is here. You can hear the same kind of dumb, laughable nonsense from Oprah Winfrey, Lebron James, Colin Kaepernick, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, an unlimited number of Hollywood stars, and Patrisse Cullors, the lady who co-founded BLM and now has 4 houses worth over 3 million dollars. If most people had a better understanding of history, the world, and what life is really like, these spoiled, pampered whiners would be laughed at for their ridiculous opinions. All of them deserve it – and Gwen Berry deserves to be kicked off the Olympic team.
