Here’s something I wrote for Bongino.com back in September. That particular article was about the riots, but it applies just as much to the counterproductive coronavirus lockdowns we saw in places Democrats are in charge.
So, would Democrats really allow their own cities to be ravaged if they believed it would help Joe Biden get into office? Absolutely, because there are no lengths to which they will not go in order to get back in power. Furthermore, if Joe Biden does get into office, he’ll send them your tax dollars to pay for all the damage they allowed to happen in order to help get him into office. So, it’s not a cost-free proposition for liberals, but they believe the juice is worth the squeeze and have taken step-after-step to help keep the riots going.
The first Democrat to get in a line for a handout in return for the damage they did in service of Biden’s election campaign is New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo. Despite the fact that residents of New York pay the highest taxes in America, it’s not enough. Of course, when you torpedo people’s businesses all year long with foolish lockdowns, they don’t make money and if they don’t make money, there don’t pay taxes on that money. It’s like Elon Musk so memorably said on the Joe Rogan show last year, “If you don’t make stuff, there’s no stuff.”
Cuomo stopped people in his state from making stuff and now he’s $15 billion short in taxes and DEMANDING that everyone else pay it.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had one overriding message Tuesday as he delivered his annual budget address from New York’s state Capitol: If Washington doesn’t send New York $15 billion as part of a pandemic relief package, he’ll have no choice but to slash public payrolls, cut services and raise taxes on the rich.
…He went one step further and threatened to pursue litigation if the federal government did not acquiesce to his ask, though officials, when asked, did not immediately say whom the state might sue or what legal arguments New York could employ.
That would be an interesting lawsuit, wouldn’t it? I want money and if people don’t give it to me, I will sue! Maybe all the people in New York that lose their livelihoods this year because of Cuomo’s policies should sue him if it works that way.
Do you know how much New York should get in aid? It’s the same amount Seattle, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Portland should receive. Zero. The economy took a hit. We ran a huge deficit. A lot of people lost their businesses because of the government’s overreaction to COVID-19. New York isn’t some special case. In fact, if anything, they deserve more of the blame being such a key factor in spreading corona around the whole country. What that means is that Republicans in Congress should hold the line and refuse to dole out billions of your money to Democratic cities and states that did a terrible job of handling the riots and the pandemic. They broke it, let them buy it.
