Earlier today New York Governor Andrew Cuomo suggested that NYC Mayor de Blasio implement an indefinite indoor mask mandate that would presumably only apply to the already vaccinated as he also wants businesses to start banning unvaccinated clientele.
“We did this — Radio City Music Hall — months ago. Reopened, vaccine only. Sold out all the shows. Sports arenas, they went up to about 90% vaccine only,” Cuomo said at a press conference. “Private businesses, bars, restaurants: go to a vaccine-only admission…. I believe it’s in your business interest to run a vaccine-only establishment, We have passes. They’re on apps, they’re on phones, it’s very simple. You can operate a restaurant, just say: ‘You have to show you’re vaccinated when you walk in the door.’ It’s going to help your business, not hurt it,” he added.

This follows similarly worrisome comments from NYC’s de Blasio, who last week declared in regards to vaccinations “We’ve got to shake people at this point and say, ‘Come on now.’ We tried voluntary… The voluntary phase is over.”
Nearly 40% of New York’s total population isn’t vaccinated, and it’s unclear why any business would want to cut their customer base nearly in half just because the Governor encouraged them to.
