The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was partnered with the Biden administration as part of their “National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism,” recently praised the Hamas terrorist attack against Israeli civilians on October 7th as “self-defense.”
“The people of Gaza only decided to break the siege, the walls of the concentration camp, on October 7,” CAIR executive director Nihad Awad said while speaking at the American Muslims for Palestine conference on November 24th in footage that wasn’t published until yesterday.
“And yes, I was happy to see people breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land, and walk free into their land, which they were not allowed to walk in,” he added. “And yes, the people of Gaza have the right to self-defense, have the right to defend themselves, and yes, Israel, as an occupying power, does not have that right to self-defense. Gaza transformed many minds around the world, including people who are not Muslim. What kind of faith do these people have? They are thankful, they are not afraid.”

After the video went viral, mentions of CAIR have since been removed by the White House from its “National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism,” and they put out a statement denouncing Awad’s comments.
Amusingly, anyone that did as much as read through CAIR’s Wikipedia page could’ve seen this coming.
Back in 2007 the U.S. government took action against the then-largest Muslim charity in the country, the Holy Land Foundation, for providing funds to Hamas, CAIR was among 245 organizations listed as co-conspirators.
In November 2014, the United Arab Emirates designed CAIR as a terrorist organization, citing alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
