This is not the kind of “high note” politicians want to make. Yesterday “live video of his remarks broadcast to the Iowa Federation of Labor Convention made him sound like a chipmunk, helium junkie or, if you like, member of the Lollipop Guild” reported the NY Daily News.

De Blasio was supposed to be at the event in Iowa in person on Wednesday, but bad weather cancelled his travel plans, Instead, they ran a livestream of the Mayor. During the live discussion an invasive technical glitch occurred making De Blasio’s voice more along the lines of an angry teenage girl, Alvin and the Chipmunks or a fan favorite, the Lollipop Guild. Reportedly chuckles could not be contained in the audience and the helium sound “undermined the gravity of statements like, ‘I believe the tide is turning, and you can see it in elections all over the state of Iowa.”
