Hunter Biden Cost U.S. Taxpayers $200k
CNN hosted arguably the most boring debate of the Democrat primary last night, in which Bernie Sanders attempted in vain to sway voters to his side ahead of Tuesday’s primaries that are set to drive the final nails into his campaign’s coffin.
Among the (few) highlights came during a discussion on the Coronavirus, in which Biden told Bernie, in the middle of a political debate, “I don’t want to get into a back and forth in term of our politics here.” It’s ironic coming from Biden, because if he doesn’t want to focus on policy in the debates, President Donald Trump is going to have a lot to work with when the two face off.
With the Biden family it seems like it’s “another day, another scandal,” and that’s the case again today with Burisma’s finest, who we just learned cost U.S. taxpayers nearly $200,000.
As reported by the Yuichiro Kakutani on the Washington Free Beacon:
As Hunter Biden zipped across the globe for his business deals, taxpayers paid $193,696 for his Secret Service entourage, according to an official database that reports unclassified government expenditures. That amount is nearly four times the recorded security bill of the four adult Trump children—combined.
While his father Joe Biden was vice president, Hunter Biden traveled with a Secret Service entourage to at least 10 different countries, including China, Qatar, and South Africa, according to a government expenditure database. He racked up 28 separate bills, all of which involved taxpayer payments to a “miscellaneous foreign contractor” or “miscellaneous foreign awardee.” Many of the bills explicitly said that the money was used to pay for accommodations for the Secret Service, but others were scant on details.
With few details about Hunter Biden’s travels publicly disclosed, the database is far from a complete account of his foreign activities. The limited disclosures do shed light on the taxpayer burden of Hunter Biden’s lucrative global business career, which far eclipses the Secret Service costs for other presidential and vice-presidential family members disclosed in the database. George Mesires, Hunter Biden’s attorney, did not respond to a request for comment.
So high were the Secret Service costs Biden racked up that they eclipsed those of the entire Trump and Obama families (excluding spouses) – and even the rest of the Biden family, combined. While Michele Obama and Melania Trump have racked up higher secret service costs than Hunter – that was for the purpose of government related visits, unlike Hunter, who never held a position in the U.S. government.
Hunter Biden may have been expensive for the U.S. taxpayers – but at least he didn’t cost us as much as he cost the Ukrainians.
