Judge Orders Jussie Smollett’s Attacker Be Released From Jail on Bond Pending Appeal

Fight tech tyranny. Join Dan on Rumble.

In what can only be described as a miscarriage of justice, former Empire actor Jussie Smollett, known for committing a racist and homophobic hate crime against Jussie Smollett (a former actor on Empire), has been released from jail.

After being sentenced to 150 days in jail (as part of a thirty-months felony probation sentence, plus fines and restitution), Smollett’s attacker had a bizarre outburst about him not being suicidal, perhaps indicating that he feared being murdered by none other than Smollett himself.

Yet just days into his stint in a jail located in MAGA Country, Illinois, Smollett’s attacker has gone free (at least for now) in a move celebrated by the same people who think that “white privilege” has infected the criminal justice system.

According to Fox:

Smollett was granted a release on bond from the Cook County Jail in Illinois pending the appeal of his conviction. A panel of three appellate judges came down with the ruling in a 2-1 decision granting the former “Empire” star’s release after posting a personal recognizance bond of $150,000.

So, whether Smollett’s attacker will serve the rest of his sentence boils down to if he can find a sympathetic judge for the appeal.

It is nearly the amount of the $120,106 restitution Smollett was ordered to repay after he was convicted of lying to Chicago police about being the victim of a hate crime in 2019.

As the appellate judges have released Smollett on his own recognizance, he will not fork over any of the amounts so long as he agrees to appear in court as required.

The legal experts who weighed in on the court’s decision as news of Smollett’s release swiftly spread raised questions as to why the three-judge panel elected to spring the actor from jail,

We can only hope Smollett can sleep at night with his attacker free to strike again.

At least for now, I’d recommend ordering SubWay through UberEats just to be safe.
