Many people were shocked at the ease with which the mob of protesters was able to force its way into the Capitol building. Clearly, the Capitol Hill Police were complacent, undermanned, and underprepared for what could happen. That’s why it was completely appropriate for the Head of the Capitol Hill Police as well as the House and Senate sergeant-at-arms to resign. They failed at their jobs and deserved to go. However, as per usual, there was a Democrat up to her neck in the whole mess who will not be asked to resign.
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser made a point of saying that she wasn’t requesting Federal Law enforcement help before the rally. Disgracefully, she even went farther than that and discouraged any from being sent.
To be clear, the District of Columbia is not requesting other federal law enforcement personnel and discourages any additional deployment without immediate notification to, and consultation with, MPD if such plans are underway. pic.twitter.com/FhnNe1dWeJ

In other words, Muriel Bowser was in a huff over Trump clearing Lafayette square, so she didn’t do her job. Did she think the Capitol Building would be overrun? Probably not, but she held a grudge, so she didn’t care about their problems. As a result, there was a disaster and people died. Is the Mayor of DC partially responsible for that whole mess? Absolutely — and that’s a big part of what’s wrong with the country today. Government officials aren’t held accountable for their screw-ups unless they’re Republicans. If you’re a Democrat, all you have to do is say the right things and your actual performance in office is treated as irrelevant. Muriel Bowser will get a free pass for this from most of the press. That shouldn’t be the case.
