Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Thursday that a lot of migrants believe that the “doors are open” to the United States now that Joe Biden is in charge. Obrador, who is embracing Joe Biden’s immigration policy, tried to warn migrants on Thursday that Biden hasn’t completely opened up the country for them… yet.
He said:
“Now, for example, that there is a U.S. immigration policy to regularize the situation of migrants, Mexicans and our Central American brothers, people think that now the doors are open, that President Biden is going to immediately regularize all migrants. It is not true that everyone can go now to the United States and they will be regularized, that has not been defined yet. Our brother migrants should have this information so that they won’t be deceived by human traffickers, who paint a rosy picture.”
Sadly, if anything, Obrador is underselling it. Joe Biden is opening up the borders, trying to make sure that illegal immigrants can get here and he is preventing ICE from deporting most illegal immigrants. He’s also openly talking about giving amnesty to illegal aliens that are already here. Is it any wonder that a lot of migrants believe that, “the doors are open?”
Essentially, the doors are open, and although illegal immigrants other than those eligible for DACA haven’t been officially “regularized,” they might as well have been. If ICE catches an illegal alien and doesn’t deport them, even if they drive drunk or commit fraud, they are essentially regularized. They might not be American citizens, but Biden will do that as well if he’s able to get away with it.
Believe it or not, Andrés Manuel López Obrador is doing more to discourage illegal immigration to the United States right now than Joe Biden. That is a disgrace.
