A blue-leaning state wonât be following the lead of Colorado in banning Donald Trump from the 2024 primary ballot.
According to Fox News:
The Michigan Supreme Court has rejected an attempt to remove former President Trump from the state's 2024 Republican primary ballot.
âSignificantly, Coloradoâs election laws differ from Michiganâs laws in a material way that is directly relevant to why the appellants in this case are not entitled to the relief they seek concerning the presidential primary election in Michigan,â Justice Elizabeth Welch wrote Wednesday, explaining the court's ruling.
Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social following the decision that âthe Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan.â
Welch said in the ruling âappellants argue that the political parties are state actors for purposes of putting forward candidates for the presidential primary, and thus, the political parties are subject to the United States Constitution.â
Joe Biden has refused to comment on the Colorado Supreme Courtâs decision to remove Trump from the ballot - but did blast Trump as an âinsurrectionist,â indicating that he does in fact agree with the decision.
This marks the seventh 14th amendment challenge to Trumpâs position on the ballot that has been dismissed, with legal challenges remaining in Minnesota, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Florida.
