Over on the alternate reality that is MSNBC, John Fetterman is already being pitched as a potential future presidential candidate following his defeat of Dr. Mehmet Oz, who himself was a liberal on nearly every conceivable issue until deciding to run for Senate as a Republican.
Despite lacking the ability to speak complete sentences, MSNBC host Katy Tur actually sees Fetterman as a serious candidate, speculating that his future could even include a presidential run. While reporting on his victory, she floated the idea of "Fetterman, as a nominee at some point for president," then acknowledged that there are "some variables to consider" without naming what they are. "I know there’s some variables, obviously, but I just, you know, what he did in the super-red, deep-red parts of Pennsylvania and the way that he ran ahead of Biden, ran ahead of Trump, and it makes you wonder about his future."
As of writing, Republicans have 48 Senate seats locked up, to Democrats 46, plus 2 Independents who caucus with them. Democrats picked up one net seat with Fetterman's win, meaning Republicans will need to pick up two of the three undecided competitive races to take control of the Senate.
