A new Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Policy “Battleground Poll” has found that Americans are loving President Trump’s handling of the economy.
The Daily Caller points out that 58 percent of respondents approve of the president’s handing of the economy while 57 percent approve of his work to create jobs.
Yesterday, the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll had the president’s approval rating at 53 percent.
The Georgetown poll also found that despite Americans’ approval of the economy, 59 percent fear an economic downturn.
Respondents appear to be “highly engaged,” with 82 percent saying they are “extremely likely” to vote in the 2020 presidential race.
Democratic pollster Celinda Lake–who conducts the Battleground Poll with Republican pollster Ed Goeas said that Democrats must focus on the economy or the party will “find itself in serious jeopardy for the 2020 election.”
Goeas says the economy is a way for President Trump “to win over voters who might be put off by his sometimes abrasive personal style.”
