Strzok Texts Reveal He Believed CIA “Leaking Like Mad”
Newly released text messages reveal disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok appears to have believed that the CIA was leaking to the media about the Trump campaign and alleged Russia collusion.
The Washington Examiner reports that Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter to intelligence community Inspector General Michael Atkinson on Monday urging him to look into Strzok’s December 2016 text message to his FBI lover, Lisa Page where he states, “Think our sisters have begun leaking like mad. … They’re kicking it into overdrive.”
The two senators say the text message reveals the FBI’s “apparent awareness of leaks by other agencies or entities to the media.”
Grassley and Johnson also point out an April 2017 email from Strzok to his FBI colleagues in which he states he believes the CIA was involved in the Trump-Russia investigation earlier than initially thought, and that the agency might be responsible for the “seemingly incorrect leads” members of the media had.
“I’m beginning to think the agency got info a lot earlier than we thought and hasn’t shared it completely with us,” Strzok said. “Might explain all these weird / seemingly incorrect leads all these media folks have. Would also highlight agency as source of some of the leaks.”
The senators wrote, “These texts and emails raise a number of serious questions and concerns. For example, who are the “sisters” and what does it mean to say that the “sisters have [been] leaking like mad”? What are they worried about and what are they kicking into “overdrive”? Which “agency” is he referring to and why does Strzok believe the referenced news article “highlights that “agency as [a] source of some of the leaks”?
