Obamas Collaborating on Anti-Trump Netflix Series
Hey Barack and Michelle, what ever happened to, “when they go low, we go high?”
Deadline Hollywood reports that the former President and First Lady are collaborating with alleged comedian Adam Conover on a new sketch comedy series for Netflix.
According to Fox News, the series will be “loosely based on an anti-Trump book that portrays the chaos that reportedly erupted after President Trump won the 2016 election.”
Have the Obamas lost their minds?
The book, entitled “The Fifth Risk,” was written by Michael Lewis in 2018. That same year, the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions company purchased the rights to it.
The series, which Deadline writes will “pull back the cover on government,” is called “The G Word.” It “will go inside the machine of government and introduce viewers to the civil servants who make it work. It will ask whether government is a dirty word or a trusted institution.”
Production on this project will begin early next year.
Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I'm creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It's called The G Word, and I can't wait to share it with you. https://t.co/cLppFdfoWS

The Obamas formed Higher Ground Productions in 2018 and promptly signed a deal with Netflix for an undisclosed sum of money.
Fox reports that the Obamas’ “first Netflix project, American Factory, hit the streaming service in 2019 and was widely considered an attack on Trump. The documentary focused on a Chinese billionaire who opens a factory “in the husk” of an abandoned General Motors plant, hiring 2,000 blue-collar Americans.”
Reviews for the documentary were stellar although it’s unclear how much the Obamas actually had to do with its production. A report in Quartz, a business-focused media outlet, indicated that “American Factory was filmed without the Obamas’ involvement.”
Anyway, it was an American story, something that all of us could relate to.
But a former president’s participation in a comedy series created for the sole purpose of ridiculing his successor is, in my opinion, in extremely poor taste.
Obviously, only conservatives will question the propriety of such a cheap shot. Still, it might be time for Mrs. Obama to toss all those t-shirts emblazoned with the motto she once claimed to embrace.
