As the 2024 presidential race heats up, TDS has made a resurgence and the liberal media is predictably bringing back the hysteria about Donald Trump turning the U.S. into a fascist country if he’s to take office. None of these people or their audiences seem to have asked the obvious question of why Trump wouldn’t have just done that already during his first term if it was truly a goal of his.
In the latest invocation of Godwin’s Law, former Sen. Claire McCaskill took Hitler comparisons to a whole new level, going as far as to argue that Trump is actually worse than both Hitler and Italian fascist Benito Mussolini (though she didn’t specify if she meant combined).
“A lot of people have tried to draw similarities between Mussolini and Hitler and the use of the terminology like ‘vermin’ and the drive that those men had towards autocracy and dictatorship,” McCaskill said. “The difference, though, I think makes Donald Trump even more dangerous, and that is he has no philosophy he believes in.” She was referring to a post of Trump’s over Veteran’s Day weekend where he referred to his political opponents as “vermin” - which is arguably less offensive than comparing them to Hitler.
