Pelosi Appears to Take Yet Another Hilarious Swipe at AOC

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appears to have taken yet another swipe at freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)–this time, downplaying the impact of the socialists’ win in the midterm elections.

Speaking before the London School of Economics and Political Science, Pelosi said, “When we won this election, it wasn’t in districts like mine or Alexandria’s…She’s a wonderful member of Congress as I think all of our colleagues will attest. But those are districts that are solidly Democratic.”

She then picked up a glass of water and said, “This glass of water would win with a ‘D’ next to its name in those districts.”

This isn’t the first time Pelosi appears to have taken a subtle swipe at the Congresswoman who recently said “I’m the boss. How about that?” when discussing the need for Congress to act on climate change.

Over the weekend, Pelosi was asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s wing of the Democratic party, and said to 60 Minutes anchor Lesley Stahl, “That’s like five people.”

Last week, the Speaker told USA Today that passing legislation was more important than amassing Twitter followers–an apparent swipe at Ocasio-Cortez.

“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have a large number of votes on the floor of the House,” she told the newspaper.

Pelosi also seems unimpressed with Ocasio-Cortez’s radical Green New Deal plan.

When asked about the plan in a February interview with Politico, Pelosi responded, “It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive. The green dream, or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?”
