Perhaps the most bizarre talking point furthered by Press Secretary Jen Psaki has been that it’s Republicans who want to defund the police. It’s a talking point contradicted by the zero Republicans who have called for defunding the police, and 100% of the people calling for (and enacting) police defunding being Democrats.
What’s really motivating Psaki to lie here is the Democrat establishment’s sudden realization that “defund the police” is a wildly unpopular policy.
Just earlier this week Rep. Cori Bush admitted that she pays for private security while calling for police defunding, and Peter Doocy confronted Psaki on those comments, who tried to downplay them as just “one person” calling for defunding. In reality, other “Squad” members have also called for defunding, such as Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and AOC.
