After flip-flopping Fauci’s lies about the NIH funding gain-of-function research have been exposed, Rand Paul, who had numerous viral clashes with Fauci over just that, is calling for his firing.
Sen. Paul told Axios that Biden should fire Fauci “just for lack of judgement, if nothing else.” But he’s not counting on that – or Fauci even acknowledging being wrong. “He’s probably never going to admit that he lied. He’s gonna continue to dissemble, and try to work around the truth, and massage the truth.”

Fauci responded, and as Sen. Paul predicted, denied lying. He responded not to Paul’s direct allegation, but a perceived implied allegation. Paul accused Fauci of lying due to his denials that the NIH funded gain-of-function research – and Fauci responded by arguing it’s untrue that this research led to COVID-19 (which Paul never said).
Or in other words, Fauci has moved on from lying, to lying about lying.
