In an interview on Fox and Friends, Rep. Dan Crenshaw has called for Rep. Ilhan Omar to be fired from her committee assignments in Congress for her comments equating the US and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.
“I think she absolutely should be fired (from her committee assignments). This is a pattern with her, too. This isn’t just a one-off. She has a pattern of antisemitic comments. She’s constantly trying to make you believe that America is a bad place, not worthy of our praise at all. What she does is say something pretty outlandish and then she turns around and claims victimhood when people criticize her for it…You can’t place these entities, the United States, Israel, Hamas, and Taliban in the same category and she did it deliberately.”
Crenshaw made his remarks in response to the latest anti-Semitic, anti-American remarks from Omar,
We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.
We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

A majority of House members would have to vote for Omar to be stripped of her House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Education, and Labor Committee assignments. No matter how anti-American and anti-Semitic Omar may be, House Democrats will be unlikely to cross “The Squad” by going after Omar. On the other hand, Democrats have set a precedent in that area by removing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments and there’s no reason other than pure politics not to do the same thing to Ilhan Omar.
That means if the GOP takes the House back in 2022, which is entirely possible, Omar is probably one slip-up away from meeting the same fate. If the GOP does take over, at a minimum, they will need to remove at least one House member from their committee assignments to show Democrats that they need to think twice before playing that partisan game, and Omar seems like a good choice for that “honor.”
