Report: U.S. Attorney John Durham Investigating Brennan, Seeking his Emails, Call Logs

U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation is focusing, in part, on former CIA Director John Brennan and his communications with former FBI Director James Comey, according to a New York Times report.

Durham “has requested Mr. Brennan’s emails, call logs and other documents from the C.I.A….He wants to learn what Mr. Brennan told other officials, including the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, about his and the C.I.A.’s views of a notorious dossier of assertions about Russia and Trump associates,” writes the Times.

Durham is also looking into whether or not Brennan lied in his public statements about Christopher Steele’s anti-Trump dossier and whether or not there was any debate among intelligence agencies “over their conclusions on Russia’s interference.”

Durham began to zero in on Brennan due to his focus on the intelligence community’s January, 2017 assessment which detailed Russia’s supposed meddling through information from the FBI, CIA and National Security Agency. “They concluded that President Vladimir V. Putin ordered an influence campaign that “aspired to help” Mr. Trump’s chances by damaging his opponent, Hillary Clinton,” writes the New York Times.

According to the report, the investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if Durham has uncovered any crimes.

In October, it was reported that the U.S. Attorney’s probe into FBI misconduct had transitioned into a criminal investigation. One source told Fox News that Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report on the FBI’s FISA application abuses would “shed light on why Durham’s probe has become a criminal inquiry.”

Attorney General William Barr told Fox News earlier this week that Durham was not limited in investigating just the FBI.

“He is looking at other agencies and also private departments and also private actors and so it is a much broader investigation. And also he is not just looking at the FISA aspect of it. He is looking at all the conduct – both before and after the election,” said Barr.
