Australia has seen some of the strictest COVID restrictions in the world, and is apparently on the forefront of creating new dystopian technologies to enforce their edicts.
In a move that risks one day becoming a Black Mirror episode, researchers from Griffith University recently debuted a new artificial intelligence video surveillance system to detect social distancing breaches. It was reportedly designed to be used at airports, but we all know that it’ll inevitably be used elsewhere (and in fact has been tested in other environments).
