FloridaĀ Governor Ron DeSantis said on Tuesday that he plans to run for a second four-year term for governor, and plans to make a formal announcement at the end of the year.
Politico reports that DeSantis said that speculation about a 2024 presidential bid was ātotal garbageā and that it was a āsafe assumptionā he would run for a second term as governor, saying āIām planning that, I havenāt announced yet, but I think itās a safe assumption that I will do it. Any political stuff that you hear along those linesāthat is total garbage. Itās not coming from me. Iām just doing a day at a time.ā
Noting that he has three children under the age of 5, DeSantis knocked the notion that every office is a stepping stone for a higher one, saying that āIāve got a young family, I have a good job, we have gotten a lot accomplished here. Whatās wrong with just actually having accomplishments?”
DeSantis is, unquestionably, a great conservative and would make a great president. Florida is lucky to have him as governor and hopefully will again for a second term.
