The Biden administration’s promise that no Americans would be left behind before the August 31st Afghanistan withdrawal date continues to age more and more poorly by the day.
The question of how many Americans remain stranded in Afghanistan came up yesterday while Secretary of State Antony Blinken was being grilled by Congress, and the answer he gave was still an estimate. “As of the end of last week, we had about 100 American citizens in Afghanistan who told us that they wish to leave the country” he admitted.
While we were able to evacuate and bring over 60,000 Afghan refugees, hundreds of Americans remain.
The hearing had some other notable highlights.
Blinken refused to comment on Biden’s leaked phone call with then-Afghanistan president Biden told him to lie about the war.
We also learned that we’ll be providing an additional $64 million in aid to Afghanistan, which everyone knows will inevitably end up in the hands of the Taliban.
And when it came to the DOJ’s Hunter Biden investigation, Blinken faked amnesia before saying he wouldn’t comment on the matter in public.
