A group of protesters stormed a Border Patrol museum in Texas and vandalized its memorial to fallen agents over the weekend, according to the Washington Examiner.

The Examiner writes that museum Director David Ham and his staff feared for their safety on Saturday when approximately 50 “rowdy” protesters entered the building and refused to leave.

Some protesters can be seen on security camera footage pulling into the museum parking lot and putting on masks before entering the facility.

“That was really intimidating to our staff, plus their kind of aggressive attitude,” said Ham.

Ham, who wasn’t at the building on Saturday watched the events unfold through the security cameras. “We have cameras, and we saw them gathering in the parking lot. We saw them come in the museum… I was able to watch the cameras on my cellphone. They came in after putting masks on,” Ham told the Examiner.

“They proceeded to set up a bunch of signs and just went all over the museum. They of course had an agenda, they were chanting and singing songs, and then a couple of them got on a bullhorn,” he continued. “We had visitors in the museum. They started talking and kind of harassing them. Of course the staff was asking them to leave, and they wouldn’t leave.”

The Examiner reports that protesters standing inside and outside the building were chanting, “Say it loud, say it clear, Border Patrol kills!”

Ham said his staff ushered non-protesting visitors to hide in the back of the museum gift store until police arrived.

Houston Sector Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens tweeted photos of the defaced memorial to fallen border agents and wrote, “Yesterday, masked protestors “occupied & reclaimed” (whatever that means) the #BorderPatrol museum (non-profit entity run by volunteers) & defaced our fallen agent memorial (a very sacred monument). I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about the hypocrisy of their actions.”
