“Enthusiastic whoops and cheers” could be heard today as Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker held a “festive” ceremony to sign a late-term abortion bill, according to the Washington Times.
Prior to signing the Reproductive Health Act at the Pritzker delivered remarks to a crowd where he was frequently interrupted by “hoots and applause.”
The new law removes criminal penalties for abortion doctors and places no limit on the procedure if done for the “health of the patient.”
“Let the word go forth today from this place, that if you believe in standing up for women’s fundamental rights, Illinois is a beacon of hope in the heart of this nation,”the governor said. “We trust women.”
