The number of Soros-backed prosecutors in-name-only is set to decline by one as Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced that she won’t be running for re-election.

According to the Post Millennial

When asked by The Chicago Tribune about her reasons for not running for a third term, Foxx said she had promised her family that she would leave office after her second term.

Of note, Foxx did appear distraught while making the announcement, which doesn’t line up with her excuse that this is due to family.

Foxx was elected in 2016 thanks to the $400,000 Soros used to support her candidacy. In 2020, the billionaire supplied $2 million to a committee backing her re-election efforts against three Democratic challengers.

Back in 2016, Foxx was the first Soros-backed prosecutorial candidate to take office.

Soros has backed dozens of far-left prosecutor candidates including Larry Krasner in Philadelphia, Kim Gardner in St. Louis, and George Gascón in Los Angeles, that typically support lax enforcement of the law, oppose cash bail, and back initiatives to not charge young offenders.

Soros has backed at least 75 “progressive prosecutors” nationwide, which represent 20% of the U.S. population.

Foxx became a household name when she dropped charges against actor Jussie Smollett after he faked a hate crime against himself. A special prosecutor’s report released the same month of Smollett’s criminal conviction would later find that Foxx and her office misled the public repeatedly regarding the Smollett investigation.
