It’s looking increasingly likely that the recall campaign for California Governor Gavin Newsom could spell the end of his reign, and in an attempt to prevent that, liberal billionaire megadonor George Soros is getting involved, having donated a total of $1 million to the cause so far.

According to Breitbart:

The California Secretary of State’s office reports three separate large contributions by Soros: a $250,000 donation in June to a committee called “Stop the Republican Recall of Gavin Newsom”; another $250,000 donation in early August; and the most recent donation of $500,000 before the end of August.

This makes Soros one of Newsom’s biggest donors.

Newsom’s top donor remains Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings. The top individual donor is Republican businessman John Cox, who has given nearly $9 million to his own campaign. Under California law, incumbents are not subject to the same campaign finance restrictions as challengers in a recall.

Soros has been extremely active in California politics.

Soros spent over $2.5 million backing George Gascón, who assumed office as Los Angeles DA in December 2020, and also backed San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, the son of two left-wing radicals convicted for their role in a 1981 armored-car robbery that resulted in the murders of two police officers and a Brinks guard. Another candidate he backeed was Contra Costa County DA Diana Becton, who he spent $275k on. Becton had never served as a prosecutor before, and would go on to create a set of “looting guidelines” that would legalize looting for the poor, or anyone claiming to be motivated by necessity. Not-coincidentally, crime always rises after a Soros-backed DA takes office.

For more on how George Soros is influencing state and local politics in America, particularly in backing candidates bent on destroying law and order, my new book “The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros” catalogues every single local race Soros has backed, and the disastrous consequences that followed when he was successful. The book comes out in December.
