CNN’s Acosta Writing Book About His “Frightening” Experience Covering White House

CNN Chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta is set to release a book in June detailing his “sometimes frightening” experience covering the Trump Administration.

His book, titled, “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America” will detail Acosta’s time covering the first two years of the White House.

“Simply put, I am writing this book to share what I’ve experienced covering President Trump during his first two years in office,” Acosta said in a statement. “This sobering, bewildering, and sometimes frightening experience has made it absolutely clear that this is a dangerous time to tell the truth in America.”

“The president and his team, not to mention some of his supporters, have attempted to silence the press in ways we have never seen before,” he continued. “As just about everybody has seen, I have witnessed this first hand. As difficult as that challenge may be for the free press in America, we must continue to do our jobs and report the news. The truth is worth the fight.”

CNN notes that Acosta began gathering material for a potential book during the 2016 campaign and signed a deal with HarperCollins in the fall of 2018.

TV Station: CNN Declined Our Report After We Informed Them that Border Agents said Walls Work

**Note: This post has been updated to include a statement from CNN.

A local San Diego television station has publicly called out CNN, saying the network declined to work with the station after discovering they reported that most Border Patrol agents say a border wall or barrier would be effective.

KUSI said CNN called its newsroom on Thursday morning asking if one of its reporters could provide the network with a “local view” of the border wall debate and the government shutdown.

KUSI offered their reporter Dan Plante, who had reported dozens of times on the border,  “including one story from 2016 that was retweeted by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and posted on DrudgeReport.com.”

“We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work,” states the TV station.

“We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it.”

Instead of working with KUSI, it appears CNN decided to have its own Jim Acosta to report on the border wall…which, as you may know, backfired spectacularly.

CNN denies the claims from KUSI and responded with the following statement: “We called several local stations to book someone for a show. We didn’t end up booking any of them. That happens many times every single day. We did, however, book a reporter from KUSI for a story on immigration and the border wall in November. This is a non story.”

Jim Acosta’s Pathetic Attempt to Prove Trump Wrong on Border Wall Backfires Spectacularly

CNN “reporter” Jim Acosta was in McAllen, TX today where he toured parts of the U.S. border, desperately seeking ways to prove the Trump Administration wrong while he awaited the president’s arrival to the region.

Including a video of himself at the “steel slat” barriers on the border, Acosta tweeted, “I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today.”

He says in the video, “Here are some of the steel slats the president has been talking about…But as we’re walking along here, we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger. There are no migrants trying to, uh, rush toward this fence…no sign of the ‘national emergency’ that the president has been talking about. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.”

The fact that Acosta just proved President Trump’s point that “walls work” seems to have gone right over his head.

And thankfully, Twitter took notice:

White House to Jim Acosta: We’re Suspending you Again in Two Weeks

White House officials reportedly sent CNN reporter Jim Acosta a letter stating they would suspend his press credentials once again, as soon as the temporary restraining order CNN won expires.

CNN’s Brian Stelter reported:

After CNN won a temporary restraining order on Friday, forcing the White House to restore his press pass for 14 days, White House officials sent Acosta a letter stating that his pass is set to be suspended again once the restraining order expires. From the looks of the letter, the W.H. is trying to establish a paper trail that will empower the administration to boot Acosta again at the end of the month.

Acosta was banned from the White House after engaging in a contentious discussion with President Trump and refusing to hand over the microphone to a female White House intern. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Acosta “[placed] his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern.”

CNN responded to the White House letter, stating, “The White House is continuing to violate the First and 5th Amendments of the Constitution. These actions threaten all journalists and news organizations. Jim Acosta and CNN will continue to report the news about the White House and the President.”

BREAKING: Judge Orders White House to Return Jim Acosta’s Press Pass

A federal judge ruled that the White House must return CNN reporter, Jim Acosta’s press pass.

This would allow Acosta to temporarily “regain access” to his press credentials.

Fox News reports:

Judge Kelly – who rescheduled Thursday’s planned hearing for Friday morning – heard lengthy oral arguments earlier in the week about the cable news network’s request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction. Judge Kelly’s decision is temporary and further hearings are expected to take place in the next few weeks to determine whether or not yanking the credential violated CNN and Acosta’s First and Fifth Amendment rights.

He declared that precedent has been set that the White House should have given Acosta due process before taking away his credential and that harm to the reporter has already occurred.

The White House suspended Acosta’s press pass “until further notice” after he refused to stop interrupting the President and hand over a microphone during a press briefing last week.

CNN filed the lawsuit against the Trump White House on Tuesday and demanded his press credentials be reinstated.

Trump Responds to Allegations that Acosta Video Shared by Sarah Sanders was “Manipulated”

President Trump has called allegations that White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders shared a “doctored” video of Jim Acosta’s interaction with a White House intern “dishonest reporting.”

Responding to a question about whether or not the video was altered, Trump stated, “Nobody manipulated it, give me a break…See that’s just dishonest reporting. All that was was a close-up. That is just dishonest reporting.”

When you say doctored you’re a dishonest guy…

He continued, “I watched that, I heard that last night. They made it close up, they showed it close up, and he was not nice to that young woman. I don’t hold him for that, because it wasn’t overly horrible…But when you say doctored you’re a dishonest guy.”

The internet and media outlets have been abuzz ever since Sanders issued the following tweet, after revoking Acosta’s press pass:

According to Fox News, Sanders is being accused of posting an edited video circulated by Infowars editor, Paul Joseph Watson. The video posted by Sanders “allegedly speeds up Acosta’s arm motion to make it appear that he essentially karate chopped the female intern.” However, Watson has taken to Twitter to defend himself writing “The only editing done to this clip is that it is zoomed in.”

Sanders’ father, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, weighed in to defend his daughter after former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren commented on the video controversy:

BuzzFeed concluded that the video was not deliberately altered, rather, they claim, the low quality gif version of the interaction contributed to the confusion:

Trump Scolds Acosta: ‘You’re a Terrible Person, CNN Should be Ashamed’

President Trump called-out CNN’s senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta Wednesday; roasting the reporter as a “rude, terrible person” and saying “CNN should be ashamed” to employ the journalist.

Sparks flew as the President spoke with reporters just hours after American voters went to the polls; telling Acosta, “Let me run the country, and you can run CNN.”

“CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them,” Trump said. “You’re a very rude, terrible person. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible. The way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn’t treat people that way.”

FIREWORKS: Trump Tells CNN’s Jim Acosta to ‘Put Down The Mic’

Huckabee Sanders Unloads on CNN’s Acosta Over ‘Pipe Bombs’

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders unloaded on CNN’s Jim Acosta during her daily briefing Monday; saying it’s “irresponsible” to attribute last week’s string of dangerous “pipe bombs” on the Trump administration.

Sanders was speaking with reporters when Acosta asked if the White House “has the guts” to name “which outlets” the President believes peddle in Fake News.

“Shouldn’t you have the guts, Sarah, to state which outlets, which journalists are the enemy of the people?” asked Acosta.

“I think it’s irresponsible of a news organization like yours to blame responsibility of a pipe bomb that was not sent by the president, not just blame the president, but blame members of his administration for those heinous acts,” fired-back Sanders.
