Nellie Ohr Deleted Russia-Related Emails From DOJ Husband Bruce Ohr

Former Fusion GPS researcher Nellie Ohr informed her husband–Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr–that she was deleting Russia-related emails sent from his work account, according to documents obtained by Judicial Watch.

From: Nellie Ohr

Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2016 12:49 PM

To: Ohr, Bruce (ODAG)

Subject: Re: Analyst Russian Organized Crime – April 2016

Thanks! I’m deleting these emails now

Judicial Watch writes:

The full email exchange is between Bruce Ohr, Lisa Holtyn, Nellie Ohr, and Stefan Bress, a first secretary at the German Embassy, and is part of 339 pages of heavily redacted records from the U.S. Department of Justice….

Nellie Ohr’s email has the same subject line as an email exchange with the subject line “Analyst Russian Organized Crime – April 2016” in which Bress initiates a discussion with Bruce Ohr and his top aide, Lisa Holtyn, proffering some “Russian analysts” to discuss a variety of topics with Ohr, Holtyn, and other DOJ officials. Among those topics to be discussed is “Impact of Russian influence operations in Europe (‘PsyOps/InfoWar’).”

Holtyn responds with, “I haven’t had a chance to confer with Bruce yet, but would certainly love to meet with the ‘A Team’!” Bruce Ohr then says, “That time works for me as well.” Bress then provides the personal details/passport numbers of the German analysts who will be meeting with Holtyn and Ohr. Holtyn tells Bress that the Ohr’s would like to host the German delegation for dinner and notes that Joe Wheatley and Ivana Nizich (a husband/wife team of DOJ Organized Crime prosecutors and friends of the Ohr’s) would join them as well.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton says, “This email is disturbing and suggests documents relevant to the improper targeting of President Trump were destroyed.”

Mark Meadows Sends Criminal Referral to DOJ for Nellie Ohr

Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice for Nellie Ohr–who once conducted research for Fusion GPS and is the wife of DOJ official Bruce Ohr.

The referral states that congressional committees are concerned that Ohr ” knowingly provided false testimony in violation of 18 U.S.C.§1001.”

The document notes that during her October 2018 congressional testimony, Ohr said she “would not have any knowledge of what [was] going on in an ongoing investigation” at DOJ and would not “have any knowledge of the Department of Justice’s investigations on Russia.”

Ohr also denied sharing her research on Russian organized crime and Donald Trump with individuals outside of Fusion GPS, her husband, and Christopher Steele.

However, the referral states, documents reviewed by congressional investigators are now raising concerns that “Ms. Ohr not only had knowledge of an ongoing DOJ investigation, but that she shared information and research on Russian organized crime to assist DOJ, in direct contradiction with her testimony.”

“For example, in March 2016, DOJ official Lisa Holtyn sent Bruce Ohr an email asking if Nellie would be able to speak with Ivana Nizich and Joe Wheatley to discuss her research as part of an ongoing investigation as she was told ‘Nellie might be a great resource.’ When Mr. Ohr checked if
Nellie would feel comfortable speaking with DOJ, Nellie emailed ‘Sure!'”

The Hill’s John Solomon reported yesterday about Ohr’s suspicious communications.

Meadows told Solomon, “Ms. Ohr used her time at the opposition research firm to place information directly in the hands of investigators, it would be a severe conflict of interest. Contrary to Ms. Ohr’s congressional testimony, it appears that she funneled research gathered during her time at Fusion GPS directly to the DOJ. A draft of a criminal referral for giving false testimony to Congress is currently being reviewed.”

REPORT: Clinton-Funded Research Possibly Sent to DOJ Via “Back-Door” Channel

A series of emails between Nellie and Bruce Ohr reveal the possibility that Clinton-funded opposition research was being funneled to the Justice Department during the 2016 election through a “back-door marital channel,” according to John Solomon of the Hill.

The emails were released through a Freedom of Information Act request to Judicial Watch and are now raising concerns among some lawmakers.

According to the report, the newly released emails reveal Ohr sent her DOJ official husband open source intelligence. In some instances, she also sent it to at least three other DOJ officials: Lisa Holtyn, Ivana Nizich and Joseph Wheatley.

In one example, Ohr emailed her husband on July 6, 2016 and wrote, “Hi Honey, if you ever get a moment you might find the penultimate article interesting — especially the summary in the final paragraph.”

The paragraph she flagged suggested that Trump was Putin’s puppet: “If Putin wanted to concoct the ideal candidate to service his purposes, his laboratory creation would look like Donald Trump.”

Solomon writes, “Such overt political content flowing into the email accounts of a DOJ charged with the nonpartisan mission of prosecuting crimes is jarring enough. It raises additional questions about potential conflicts of interest when it is being injected by a spouse working as a Democratic contractor trying to defeat Trump, and she is forwarding her own research to his department and co-workers.”

Other information Ohr sent her husband include articles and academic research that Solomon says “would later surface as evidence of alleged collusion between Trump and Russia.”

This includes:

  • then-Russian ambassador to Washington Sergey Kislyak attended an April 2016 foreign policy speech by Trump. Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions eventually was forced to recuse himself from the Russia investigation as attorney general in part because he met Kislyak at that speech;
  • then-Trump campaign adviser Carter Page gave a July 2016 speech in Moscow. Nellie Ohr bolded a passage in the article noting Page’s company “continues to work with Russian investments” and included someone tied to the Russian energy giant GazProm.

The newest emails have Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) questioning the accuracy of Ohr’s October 2018 congressional testimony.

“If Ms. Ohr used her time at the opposition research firm to place information directly in the hands of investigators, it would be a severe conflict of interest,” Meadows told Solomon. “Contrary to Ms. Ohr’s congressional testimony, it appears that she funneled research gathered during her time at Fusion GPS directly to the DOJ. A draft of a criminal referral for giving false testimony to Congress is currently being reviewed.”

Nellie Ohr Transcripts Released: “I favored Hillary Clinton…”

Transcripts from Nellie Ohr’s congressional testimony reveal the former Fusion GPS researcher “favored” Hillary Clinton for president and would have been “less comfortable” doing opposition research against the former Secretary of State.

“I would probably have been less comfortable doing opposition research that would have gone against Hillary Clinton,” Ohr told Congress on October 19.

When asked by a Congressional aide why that was the case, Ohr responded, “Because I favored Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate.”

Ohr’s transcripts were released by House Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) yesterday and also show how the wife of demoted DOJ official Bruce Ohr even researched Trump’s family members and their “travels.”

“I was asked to research Trump’s family broadly in connection with any—any Russian connections,” Ohr said, adding that she “did some research on all of them, but not in much depth.”

Specifically, Ohr said she researched Donald Trump Jr.’s and Ivanka Trump’s “travels.”

Ohr claimed the research was done “to see whether they were involved in dealings and transactions with people who had suspicious pasts, or suspicious types of dealings.”

Fox News reports:

Ohr also testified that she was asked to research members of the campaign including former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former campaign aide Carter Page and former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Ohr noted that, in her research, she found that Page traveled to Moscow to speak at a university about “better relations” between Russia and the U.S.

With regard to the research on Flynn, Ohr said she was asked to look into “any relationships he might have with Russia.” Ohr said that through her research, it “became evident that he had a relationship with Turkey as well.”

Report: Nellie Ohr Testimony Confirms her Work for CIA

Congressional testimony from Nellie Ohr, the wife of demoted DOJ official Bruce Ohr reveals that she worked as a contractor for the CIA for up to six years.

According to Jeff Carlson of the Epoch Times, Nellie–who was hired by opposition research firm Fusion GPS to research the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia–“worked for an internal open source division of the CIA named Open Source Works from 2008 to at least June 2010.” The Times notes that it’s “likely” Ohr continued working for the agency until 2014.

Carlson writes:

According to a transcript of an Oct. 19, 2018, closed-door testimony, which was reviewed by The Epoch Times, Ohr acknowledged to congressional investigators that she worked as an independent contractor for “various agencies in the United States Government.”

Ohr testified that she worked for the CIA’s Open Source Works (OSW) division. She also revealed that prior to her work for the CIA, she worked for Mitre, which is funded by the U.S. government and interacts with various intelligence agencies.

Nellie was hired by Fusion GPS (The same firm hired by the DNC and Clinton campaign to produce the infamous, discredited anti-Trump dossier) in 2015 and conducted research on Trump campaign staffers. She is also considered a “Russia expert” who studied in the Soviet Union in 1989 and obtained a PhD in Russian history in 1990.

Her husband, Bruce, was closely connected to Trump dossier author, Christopher Steele, and his August testimony confirmed he shared information from Steele with then-deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, then-FBI attorney Lisa Page, then-FBI agent Peter Strzok and the man now known as Mueller’s “pit bull” Andrew Weissmann.
