Despite a $174,000 annual salary plus benefits, an income that comfortably puts them in the top 10% of U.S. income earners, that still isn’t enough for the socialists in Congress to pay off their debts. That’s apparently our job.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, and Rashida Tlaib, all of which are also members of the Democratic Socialists of America and the so called “Squad,” took to the House floor to demand that we pay off their debts that they can absolutely afford to pay off themselves.

Bowman, who previously called student loans a “pillar upholding white supremacy,” reiterated that the student debt crisis is somehow a “racial justice issue” (what isn’t nowadays?)

AOC, who reportedly owes $17,000 in student loan debt, a sum equal to 9.7% of her annual salary, called student loans “ridiculous,” and railed against the “crushing” debt that’s about half as large as the price tag on a Met Gala ticket.

Rashida Tlaib added “I worked full time, Monday through Friday, and took weekend classes to get my law degree. And still, [I had] close to $200,000 in debt. And I still owe over $70,000 and most of it was interest. And guess what? I didn’t go to the for-profit entities, I went to legal aid, I worked at the nonprofit organization fighting for the right to breathe clean air, to fight for the worker that was getting their wage taken and stolen from their employer. I went and worked on immigrant rights and so much more.”

The school she attended, Western Michigan University Law School, has been branded the worst law school in America, and only 61% of graduates pass the bar. A 75% pass rate is required for a school to be approved by the American Bar Association.

Congresswoman Nikema Williams also demanded we pay off her student loans, while most of the other Reps who also spoke were at least smart enough to pitch student debt forgiveness as something to benefit the poor and disadvantaged, not themselves.
