Another week’s worth of misleading tweets from socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have gone completely ignored by the media.
Let’s see what they missed.
AOC Attempts Foreign Policy
AOC weighed in on foreign affairs, declaring the ousting of Bolivia’s socialist President to be a coup.
What’s happening right now in Bolivia isn’t democracy, it’s a coup.
The people of Bolivia deserve free, fair, and peaceful elections – not violent seizures of power.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) November 11, 2019
The “coup” rhetoric is commonplace after any socialist leader is deposed for any reason. In this case, former Bolivian president Evo Morales won an unprecedented fourth term in an election with credible evidence of voter fraud. In a preliminary report the Organization of American States found a “heap of observed irregularities” in the election and recommended that a new vote he held. Not longafter, military chief Gen. Williams Kaliman called on Morales to resign.
And that’s all irrelevant anyway, because Morales completely ignored a referendum that upheld term limits of three for the president. Morales was able to circumvent those restrictions by having his constitutional court disallow them. In that case, what happened indeed wasn’t democracy.
Free Speech for Thee, But Only if You Sue
Facing a lawsuit from Dov Hikind after AOC blocked him on twitter, she unblocked and issued an apology to him. A lawsuit that forced President Donald Trump to unblock his critics set the precedent on this issue, and it was clear AOC would lose the lawsuit.
.@AOC has apologized and unblocked me on Twitter!
I’ll be responding to the release of the agreement details, and the apology from Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez LIVE at 11:30am EST.
We will be live streaming right here at 11:30am.
Tune in! pic.twitter.com/JLK5DiLOsK

And yet, it turns out she only unblocked those suing her. OANN’s Liz Wheeler, a frequent critic of hers, remains blocked.
Can you imagine AOC’s response if Trump had done the same?
And yet, I'm still blocked by @AOC…https://t.co/1IpfwgVAia pic.twitter.com/fnpGqrhlRC

“Mr. Hikind has a 1st Amend right to express his views & should not be blocked for them. In retrospect, it was wrong & improper & does not reflect the values I cherish. I sincerely apologize for blocking Mr. Hikind.”
If you mean it, @AOC, unblock me.https://t.co/1IpfwgVAia

Hi @AOC, you unblocked @HikindDov because you say he "has a 1st Amend right to express his views & should not be blocked for them."
So why did you block me?
Are you telling me because I disagree with your political views, I don't deserve rights? pic.twitter.com/gB5zzHssmg

Admittedly, I’m a bit jealous of those who can’t read AOC’s tweets.
Lack of Abortion Causes Poverty According to AOC
In response to a study highlighting the wealth gap between whites and blacks in America, AOC decided to give us her take as an armchair economist as to why this is. Among the reasons she cites is a lack of federally funded abortion.
The racial wealth gap is not an accident.
It is the result of 100s of years of discriminatory practices+policies.
A few examples:
– Redlining
– Mass incarceration
– Hyde amendment
– ‘08 crisis, where Black homeowners were disproportionately targeted for predatory subprime loans https://t.co/xS9vL4baEC— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) November 11, 2019
Indeed the Hyde amendment, which prevents federal dollars from funding abortions, is cited as a reason for wealth inequality for some reason. Despite the lack of federal funding, black women get abortions at three times the rate of white women (and in the early 2000s it’s been as high as 5:1), so it’s unclear what AOC thinks her point is here. Additionally, the average abortion doesn’t cost much more than a minimum wage worker earns in a week. It’s not exactly a cost prohibitive procedure.
As for her take on mortgage finance, the reason black homeowners were disproportionately “targeted” for subprime loans is because the government literally forced banks to loan to riskier buyers. It’s truly convenient to be a socialist like AOC, because you can always play both sides of an argument. If banks don’t lend to poor blacks it’s racist, and if they do, it’s also racist for some reason.
The New Left
AOC is under the impression that she’s no radical, she’s just bringing the Democratic Party back to their roots.
.@AOC with the line that gets the crowd to go wild: “When people accuse us of pushing the party left, we are not pushing the party left we are bringing the party home.”
— Eliza Collins (@elizacollins1) November 10, 2019
It’s total nonsense, of course. This “new” Democratic Party we’re witnessing emerge is indeed new. Republicans have remained ideologically consistent over the past four decades, while the left has continued inching further left.
Though if we stretch our timeframe back to the 1930s and 40s she does have a point. The last time the Democratic Party was as socialist as she wants, they were putting Japanese people in camps.
