Top Dem Lawmaker: Border Walls “Obviously” Work in Some Places

The number two House Democrat, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) admitted yesterday that border walls “obviously” work in certain areas, contradicting many of his Democratic colleagues who love to repeatedly claim “walls don’t work.”

When asked by Fox News’ Brett Baier last night whether or not walls work, Hoyer replied “…obviously they work in some places. But the president wanted to first build a wall apparently 1,954 miles of — and he changed that very substantially.”

Hoyer seemingly disagreed with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who recently claimed a border wall was “immoral.” She told reporters “Most of us, speaking for myself, consider the wall immoral, ineffective. He also promised Mexico would pay for it. So even if they did, its immoral.”

When pressed by Baier if he believed the wall was immoral, Hoyer stated, “I don’t agree with that. Look, I don’t think this is an issue of morality; it’s an issue of does it work?”

He went on, “A wall is — that protects people is not immoral. I think the issue is whether it works.”
