It’s a figure you won’t hear from Joe Biden touting himself, but Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has confirmed it: $4.7 trillion.
That’s the amount of new taxes Biden has proposed (over a 10-year period) in his budget.
Senator John Kennedy pried that figure out of Yellen, asking her “Isn’t it a fact that the president’s proposed budget proposes $4.7 trillion in new taxes?”
After a long pause, she replied “It does propose significant additional taxes, yes.”
“$4.7 trillion,” Kennedy followed up.
“Something like that, yes,” Yellen confirmed.
And despite all those tax hikes, Biden’s budget still doesn’t balance. According to Biden's Director for Office of Management and Budget, being fiscally responsible would somehow “hurt working families.”
