President Trump has taken to Twitter to announce he has decided to cancel his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the G-20 summit in Argentina, citing Russia’s seizure of three Ukraine naval vessels.

“Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin. I look forward to a meaningful summit again as soon as this situation is resolved,” he wrote.

The President’s response comes after Russia captured three small Ukraine naval vessels on Sunday along with 23 sailors–some of whom were shot and injured by the Russian forces.

Yesterday, President Trump told the New York Post that he wasn’t happy with Russia’s capture of the vessels and called on European leaders to “get involved.”

“We’re going to see, we’re going to find out what happened. I didn’t like the incident and we’re getting a report on what’s going on,” Trump said.

He called on Germany and France to get involved, however the President “didn’t elaborate what actions the two countries–which have both criticized Russia, as has UN Ambassador Nikki Haley–should take.”
