Donald Trump sat down with Sean Hannity for an hour-long interview that aired last night. The two discussed the future of the GOP, the border crisis, a potential 2024 run, and more.
On the future of the party, Hannity asked “Should this now be the Republican Party agenda? Should anybody that wants to run for the House or the Senate — should they take this “Make America Great” agenda and fight for those things that you fought for the four years you were president?”
Trump replied “If they want to win, yes.”
Of the midterms, Trump vowed to regain a GOP majority. “We are going to help with the House [in 2022]. I think we have a really good chance. I’m working with everybody including Kevin McCarthy. Likewise, the Senate is going to be a little bit tougher.” Trump then claimed that eight more GOP senators would’ve lost in 2020 without his involvement. He said he wouldn’t name them to “save them from embarrassment” – but then added “But that includes Mitch.”
When it came to the prospects of a 2024 run, Trump said it was something he was “very seriously considering.” “Their taxes are going up. Regulations are going through the roof. Jobs are going to go out. What you see — you know, this is going to take a little while to show. But if they add all these regulations back, the jobs are going to be gone. Your energy independence is going to be gone. So, I say this, I am looking at it very seriously, beyond seriously. From a legal standpoint, I don’t want to really talk about it yet, it’s a little too soon” he explained.
On the border, Trump blasted Biden for the ongoing crisis, saying that it had the potential of “destroying our country.”
“People are pouring in. You’ll see something as the months go by like you’ve never seen before,” said Trump. “There’s never been anything like what’s happened at our border and people are coming in by the tens of thousands. They’re walking in.”
Trump added that all Biden had to do on the border was leave his policies in place.
Instead, the White House has effectively ignored the problem.
