Trump Rips Fauci: “He’s Not a Great Doctor – But He’s a Hell of a Promoter”

Former President Donald Trump came out swinging against Dr. Anthony Fauci during his weekend speech in North Carolina.

Last week thousands of Fauci’s emails were released to the public thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request from Buzzfeed. In them we learn that Fauci was worried early on that the public might conclude that COVID-19 escaped from a lab and that he ignored warnings about China’s fake data on the virus, among numerous other revelations that will get this article flagged by social media’s so-called “fact checkers” if I repeat them.

In addition to Fauci’s emails, seemingly the entirety of the media has done a 180 in recent weeks on the credibility of the Wuhan lab leak theory, which Trump endorsed early on, and Fauci downplayed.

As the Washington Examiner reported:

Trump said: “The media, the Democrats, and the so-called experts are now finally admitting what I first said 13 months ago. The evidence demonstrates that the virus originated in a Chinese government lab. Couldn’t say it. You couldn’t say it. And Dr. Fauci, who I actually got along with, he’s a nice guy, he’s a great promoter. Not a great doctor, but he’s a hell of a promoter. He likes television more than any politician in this room, and they like television.”

Trump then took aim at Fauci’s record on the pandemic, saying the doctor has been “wrong on almost every issue.”

“But he’s been wrong on almost every issue, and he was wrong on Wuhan and the lab also. Very wrong,” Trump said of Fauci. “We ended the payments. They were started in 2014, and then I can tell you Mark Meadows came in, and I talked to him, and he saw what I saw. And I said, ‘What the hell’s going on? When did that start?’ It started in 2014, and we ended it, our administration ended it.”

Trump added that Fauci opposed closing our borders to China and Europe, which he did anyway, likely saving thousands of lives as a result.
