Trump Rules Out Mike Pence as Running Mate for Potential 2024 Run

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Donald Trump ruled out again picking Mike Pence as his running mate in a hypothetical but heavily hinted at 2024 run.

According to the Examiner, Trump told them “I don’t think the people would accept it,” adding “Mike and I had a great relationship except for the very important factor that took place at the end, We had a very good relationship. I haven’t spoken to him in a long time.”

He said of the aftermath of the election certification: “Mike thought he was going to be a human conveyor belt, that no matter how fraudulent the votes, you have to send them up to the Old Crow [Mitch McConnell]. But that turned out to be wrong. Because now, as you know, they are feverishly working to try and get it so that the vice president cannot do what Mike said he couldn’t do. Obviously, they were either lying, misrepresenting, or they didn’t know. I was disappointed in Mike.”

Last week during an interview on Fox Business’ Mornings With Maria, Pence himself said he’d consider a 2024 run “at the right time.”

Trump most recently teased a 2024 run at his rally in South Carolina last week, telling a roaring crowd “We’re gonna win like never before. This is the year we are going to take back the house. We are going to take back the senate. And we are going to take back America and in 2024 we are going to take back that beautiful, beautiful white house.”
