President Trump has had an ongoing battle with Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD) over Baltimore’s dire conditions. Trump spoke to reporters on the White House lawn today saying that “thousands” of African-American Baltimore residents have reached out to him regarding the disastrous crime and poverty problems.

CBS reports that since the president began attacking Cummings in tweets on Saturday in which he blamed the Representative for the Baltimore being “infested” with rodents. Insisting that he is the “least racist person” in the world, “those people are living in hell in Baltimore…they’re largely African-American…and they really appreciate what I’m doing, and they let me know it.”

Today the president “suggested that Cummings’ House Oversight and Reform Committee, which recently issued subpoenas for records belonging to the president’s family members, should start investigating Baltimore” according to cbsnews.com.

Trump, as usual, appears at least on the outside, to be unphased by the tension surrounding racial issues. “I think I’m helping myself because I’m pointing out the tremendous corruption that’s taking place,” in cities run by Democrats. As we have pointed out on this site, Trump is fighting the mess created by the ‘liberal forest fire.’
