A former NASA engineer’s latest Youtube video has gone viral after he created a glitter bomb to catch package thieves.
Mark Rober spent six months engineering a fake package with GPS tracking that would spray glitter and fart spray on thieves who open the box. The package is also equipped with four cell phones that would begin recording with its cameras once the GPS indicated the box had been moved. This enabled Rober to capture the reaction of the thieves after they are hit with the glitter and the footage would upload to a cloud so he could access it.
Rober created the glitter bomb after an Amazon package was stolen from his front doorstep.
“Something needs to be done to take a stand against dishonest punks like this,” he says.
“I built a dart board that moves to get a bulls eye every time. I spent nine years designing hardware that’s currently roving around on another freaking planet. If anyone was going to make a revenge bait package and over-engineer the crap out of it, it was going to be me.”
