Patriotic Minnesota protesters made their voices heard this week after the St. Louis Park City Council held a unanimous vote in June to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of their meetings.
The reason for their anti-American decision? They city council believed it would create a more “welcoming environment” for its “diverse community.”
Before the June 17 vote, council member Tim Brausen said, “We concluded that in order to create a more welcoming environment to a diverse community we’re going to forgo saying the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting.”
On Monday, the council held a meeting to reconsider the controversial vote and almost 100 protesters showed up to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, wave American flags and chant “USA!”
