Senator John Kennedy was left stunned by a witnessâ commitment to the insanity of social justice ideology.
At a hearing titled âThe Gun Violence Epidemic: A Public Health Crisis,â Sen. Kennedy questioned Dr. Franklin N. Cosey-Gay and other witnesses who were advocating for more gun control. Cosey-Gay is the director of the Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, which takes an ineffective âroot causesâ approach to fighting crime that strips criminals of all responsibility for their actions and instead outsources it to poverty and the elusive forces of racism.
After pressing other witnesses on the failures of progressive leaders to enforce laws already on the books and put criminals caught illegally possessing firearms in prison, he asked Cosey-Gay âYou said no one should be judged by the worst thing they have done in their lives. If one of these young doctors sitting behind you, god forbid, walks out on the streets of Washington, D.C., and is raped or sodomized, you donât think the rapist should be judged?â
âI donât think it should be terminal, it shouldnât be for the rest of their lives,â Cosey-Gay shockingly responded.
âYou think we should forgive them and not give them any punishment? You think nobody is responsible for their actions?â Sen. Kennedy asked
âI believe in responsibility, but I believe in forgiveness,â Cosey-Gay replied, prompting a âwowâ from a stunned Sen. Kennedy.
