Why anyone would be a business owner in a place like San Francisco is something every business owner there must be asking.
Back in May, the pharmacy Walgreens announced the closure of ten stores in San Francisco because rampant shoplifting made it impossible for them to turn a profit. In the past five years a total of seventeen of the chain’s stores have closed in the city. Not longafter, Target announced they’d be reducing their store hours in attempt to stop shoplifting. If large chains are threatened by shoplifting, who isn’t?
Yet another recent viral video out of San Francisco paints a surreal picture of the normalized and effective legalization of shoplifting in the city.
