House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reiterated threats from James Comer to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt if he misses today’s deadline to produce internal agency documents related to the Biden family’s overseas business dealings.

“Today is the deadline. So let me not just tell you, let me tell Director Christopher Wray right here, right now. If he misses the deadline today, I’m prepared to move contempt charges in Congress against him. We have jurisdiction over this. He can send us that document. We have the right to look at that, Republicans and Democrats alike in that committee, and if he does not follow through with the law, we will move contempt charges against Christopher Wray and the FBI. They are not above the law,” McCarthy said.

Watch below:

Comer had previously threatened to hold McCarthy in contempt for failing to turn over an internal Biden doc that Republicans say proves Joe Biden was involved in a criminal foreign scheme. Wray initially faced a May 10 deadline over the document, but completely ignored the subpoena.

No one can be faulted for having some doubts on whether or not McCarthy will act, despite his rhetoric. After all, the tentative debt ceiling deal that was reached last week was a disappointment to most conservatives, and failed to fulfill a key promise of McCarthy’s to neutralize the Biden admin’s attempt at hiring 87,000 new IRS agents.

Will this just be another disappointment? At least this time we’ll know by tomorrow.
