Joe Biden pivoted from addressing the fires ravaging California to awkwardly announce that he officially became a great-grandfather this week.
While standing beside California Governor Gavin Newsom, Biden announced the “good news” to the reporters.
“The good news is, I’m a great-grandfather as of today,” Biden, 82, said during a briefing on the blazes in the Pacific Palisades, which have killed at least two people and left dozens more homeless.
“I’ll remember this day for a lot of reasons,” Biden continued, before refusing to answer questions from reporters and leaving.
Watch:
While insensitive given the California wildfires, it is great to see Biden acknowledging his grandchildren - last time it took him four years for him and his family to acknowledge his granddaughter Navy Roberts, who was born out of wedlock in 2018. He still has yet to meet the child.
