As the death toll in Maui nears 100, making the wildfires there the most dangerous in recorded American history, Biden commented over the weekend to say that he has no comment on the matter.

While taking a brief detour from relaxing on the beach, Biden was asked “Mr. President, any comment on the rising death toll in Maui?”

After a brief stare, Biden replied “No, no comment” while smirking.

“Will you come talk about the Hawaii response, Mr. President”  a different reporter then asked - leading to Biden walking away.

Earlier in the day, when reporters asked Biden to stop riding his bike to talk about the wildfires, he responded “we’re looking at it.”

Biden had previously pledged on multiple occasions to visit East Palestine, Ohio after the toxic train derailment earlier this year - and then never followed through with the promise.

Last Thursday, Biden wrote on the platform formally known as Twitter; “The federal government isn't just sending prayers to the people of Hawai'i – but every asset they need. We're surging aid, resources, and personnel, and will help the state recover for as long as it takes” - and then never mentioned them again, mostly tweeting out posts praising the Biden economic agenda.

In this case Biden did however immediately approve a disaster declaration for the state where nearly two-thirds voted for him in the 2020 presidential election - as opposed to the heavily pro-Trump East Palestine, which never got a federal disaster declaration despite requesting one.
