At long last, Joe Biden has finally accomplished something.
Unfortunately, it’s a record he’d rather not have; being set to leave office as the most unpopular president ever in modern history.
According to the Daily Mail:
An exclusive Daily Mail poll found Biden was less impressive than Jimmy Carter, who was voted out after a single term after presiding over double-digit inflation and a botched effort to rescue American hostages in Iran.
When 1006 registered voters were asked to rank the last nine presidents in order, from best to worst, Biden came at the very bottom of the table, making him the worst in 47 years. Some 44 percent placed him as one of the worst two, while only 14 percent placed him in the top two, giving him a net score of 30 points underwater.
Note that this is different from traditional polling, where each president's individual net approval ratings would be compared to each other.
Ronald Reagan was the most popular, followed by Barack Obama. Donald Trump was the third most popular by approval, but was lower on the list due to a larger disapproval, which damaged his net approval, placing him lower on the list. It’s important to remember here that this is in the context of over 95% of mainstream news coverage on Trump being negative. Surely the likes of Obama and Bill Clinton would be far less popular had the media given them the same type of biased courage.
This also doesn't take into account the explosion in enthusiasm for Trump's second term, as evidenced by the blowout we saw last month.
Prior to dropping out, according to former Obama speechwriter Jon Fevreau, internal polling had Trump winning by over 400 electoral votes.
