Once again, the subject of one of James O’Keefe’s reports fled the scene when confronted by the man himself, this time walking into a NYPD station after downplaying himself as a “low-level” employee, and denying what he was captured on video saying.
In a video released earlier this week, O’Keefe Media Group released a video where a BlackRock recruiter was allegedly captured discussing, among other things, how war is good for business, and explaining how easy it is to buy off politicians. While this isn't exactly something we didn’t already know, it’s the first time anyone from an organization like BlackRock has been captured on video bragging about it.
The subject of the video was Serge Varlay, who describes himself as a “gatekeeper” who “decides people’s fate” at the company in the video. “I’m not actually a finance guy. I just know what happens because I’m recruiting people who do these things. I’m the person who headhunts people from other firms, so I would approach you and be like, ‘Hey, this is a good reason why you should come work for us,” he explained.
According to Varlay, the Ukraine-Russia conflict is “good for business,” giving the example that “[When] Russia blows up Ukraine’s grain silos, the price of wheat’s gonna go up. So what are you gonna do if you’re a trading firm? The moment that news hits, within a millisecond, you’re going to pump trades into whoever the wheat suppliers are. Into their stocks. Within an hour or two that stick goes f—ing up and then you sell and you just make, I don’t know, however many millions…. The Ukrainian economy is tied very largely to the wheat market, global wheat market, prices of bread, you know, literally everything goes up and down. This is fantastic if you’re trading.”
Later, he revealed just how cheaply you can purchase a Senator for, describing them as “f—ing cheap.” “You got 10 grand? You can buy a senator. It doesn’t matter who wins. They’re in my pocket at this point” he revealed.
