Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to investigate the investigators, a source tells Fox News.
Fox reports that Barr appointed Connecticut U.S. attorney John Durham to “examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was ‘lawful and appropriate.'”
Durham has previously investigated corruption in law enforcement and the destruction of CIA videos.
Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) praised Barr’s choice of Durham as special prosecutor.
On Twitter, the lawmaker wrote, “John Durham is an outstanding choice for special prosecutor investigating 2016 pre-election activities—his selection further demonstrates Bill Barr’s tenacity and determined desire to get to the truth and restore credibility at the top tier of the DOJ and FBI.”

President Trump has repeatedly made calls to “investigate the investigators.”
After the Mueller report’s release in April, he tweeted, “Mueller, and the A.G. based on Mueller findings (and great intelligence), have already ruled No Collusion, No Obstruction. These were crimes committed by Crooked Hillary, the DNC, Dirty Cops and others! INVESTIGATE THE INVESTIGATORS!”
