It looks like walls work after all!
The party of open borders has introduced its latest attempt to militarize Washington, D.C. This time, freshman Congressman Ritchie Torres of New York introduced House Resolution 339, which seeks “to direct the Architect of the Capitol to design and install an appropriate fence around the perimeter of the United States Capitol.” As of writing, the text of Congressman Torres’ resolution has yet to be made public. Since the January 6th breach of the U.S. Capitol, congressional Democrats and progressive pundits have lauded the crackdown on “far-right” and other extremist groups.
This crackdown has included federal prosecutions of those who breached the Capitol, as well as efforts to use political pressure on private entities to sever ties with those deemed “at fault” for the events. The hysteria has reached fever pitch with some prominent progressive voices calling for the expansion of national intelligence gathering tools to combat “extremism” or as the Daily Beast refers to it, “white terror.”
In recent days, Washington, D.C. has been placed under severe military and law enforcement surveillance to deter future attacks. It is unclear how Representative Torre’s bill might play a role in this effort. After all, progressives and establishment politicians have decried a border wall on the American southern border for the entirety of President Trump’s term. We were told that “walls do not work” so it is unclear why a U.S. Capitol wall would work. (Of course, the real is because they *do* work!)
As Biden makes faux calls for unity, the current environment in Washington, D.C. demonstrates how far the country currently is from it.
